The short answer to this question is yes. But, please don’t do the same boring stuff you always do before you go to work or do after work. Things like elliptical, treadmill workouts or swimming a regular mile in the pool and fallowing the same weight training routine. If you do these incredibly boring, at least for myself workouts at home gym, don’t do them on your vacation. If you don’t do them at home, they might feel exiting to you, so it’s ok to do them.
So what kind of workouts should you do on your vacation? The fun stuff, you might not even call workout. Activities like for example jogging or just walking on the beach, swimming in beautiful blue ocean, climbing Eiffel Tower, hiking in beautiful nature, rock climbing, playing beach volleyball or soccer with your kids on the beach, playing tennis or skydiving.
Forget the routine on your vacation! Do the fun stuff. Spontaneous stuff. Don’t even try to feel guilty for skipping your regular workout for 10 days or longer. Yes, you should be active and move on your vacation. But all those activities should feel exciting to you at some level.
When I am on my vacation, I don’t even want to get close to the dumbbell. From the time I enter the air plain to the point I get back home I hate dumbbells. I hate gyms. And I hate swimming pools. And nobody is going to see me in the gym or in the pool or hot tub. I usually rent a surfboard and just surf whenever I want in the beautiful ocean. I am not wasting my energy in stinky dusty gym and chlorinated pools. I will rather catch few extra waves or play a game of tennis and have a stroll on the beach watching sunset than do some pull ups. Those are some of my super fun and active kind of vacation activities. I get a lot of workout done without even knowing I am working out. Try it. It really works. Don’t work out. Have fun and workout will take care of itself
