Are you not happy with your overall fitness level. Do you struggle to loose weight? You don’t feel well most of the time and you get tired often? You hate those love handles, when you look into the mirror? Do you feel weak?
On the other level. Do you you hate you job? Do you want to do something else, but don’t seem to find anything you are good at? Are you broke? Are you depressed because of all of that?
The answer to all these is: Practice.
I just came to the realization, that my writing is for the most part crappy. I make a lot of mistakes, I don’t write often enough, I only write when I feel like to write. I get a lot of negative feedback. Rarely a positive one. My English grammar still pretty much suck. And I find a lot of words that I don’t understand.
Does this bother me? Of course it does. Am I depressed because of this? No. I am not. There is actually reason for my writing being crappy. I realize that in order to get better in writing I need to practice more. I need to practice harder. I need to work on a writing craft more intensively. I am very far away from paying enough frustrating mornings and nights dues of writing.
I simply need to practice more. The reason my writing suck is because I don’t practice enough. The reason you are overweight is because you don’t practice hard enough. The reason you are often tired and out of energy is because instead of practicing your health honing skills in gym or outdoors pool and learning about good diet and applying what you learn, you are watching your favorite show in the evening.
The reason, you hate your job, is because you don’t practice the skills to get a job you love. First, you have to show the world something valuable you can offer and than you get a great job you love. And that takes a lot of practice.
I can go on and on about the problems people have and it always comes down to practice. Or better said, not enough of it.
So if the practice is the key to the success in almost everything, why there are so many unhappy, mediocre people? It is because people hate to practice. It’s uncomfortable. It’s not fun. It hurts. There are always better things to do.
But if you manage to defy gravity and you practice and hon your skills in spite of not wanting to, your skills will improve. You’ll get better. As one of my palls used to always say and I think it is truth: “If you do easy things, life will be hard. If you force yourself to do hard things, life will be easy”. So, force yourself to practice. And your success is certain.
