Being an average chess player is easy. Being an exceptional chess player is very hard.
Swimming 100 meters free style in 1 min. 10 sec. is easy to achieve with some training. Swimming it under 50 seconds is very hard to achieve even with a lot of training.
Not adding any sweeteners to your food and drinks is easy. Going completely sugarless is hard.
Loosing 10 pounds when you are overweight is easy. Loosing another 5 when you are already fit and lean is hard.
The closer to the top you get, the more you see people giving up. Or, it is just not worth the hassle anymore. It doesn’t feel as much fun as before, when the improvements were much bigger.
But some persevere and go through that last steep hill, than many are not willing to cross.
