It’s 1 pm an I already consumed 100 grams of carbohydrates. Apple and orange with 4 spoons of peanut butter, 20 oz of sugarless 100% cocoa chocolate. And than I had a can of Wilde salmon With another apple and 2 spoons of peanut butter.
At the first glance, it doesn’t seem like a lot. But I am at my 3/4 of carbohydrate limit per day, which is 150 grams. Why 150 grams of carbohydrates per day? It is the number closest, it’s actually only 100 grams for our ancestors of carbohydrate consumption per day. They would eat just about 100 grams of it per day. And since, it’s not that long time ago, our bodies still didn’t have time to adjust. And, they are just suffering from more carbs in our diet. And we are getting fatter and sicker than ever before.
I found that I function the best, and keep my muscle mass at it’s highest at consuming between 100 – 150 grams of carbohydrates per day. I urge you to give it a try. Count your carbs and see how you feel. Than cut them and see how you feel. Than, cut some more. Experiment!
One great way to cut carbohydrates in your diet is to sticking with eating only, vegetables, fruits and nuts as carbohydrates. Even this gets challenging for me, because it’s quite normal for me to have 5 apples, basket of strawberries and some blackberries daily. To cut my carbs to my limit of 150 grams, I have to do some further adjustment. And that adjustment is switching some of the fruits I eat for vegetables. Green leafy vegetables are the best and lowest in carbohydrates. And they also are the best for your health.
So now, I am going to have few more training sessions and my goal is to fit under eating 150 grams of carbs for today. How am I going to do this? I will have some chicken and a lot of green leafy vegetables for dinner. For a desert I will have a smoothie made from virgin whole fat coconut juice, frozen unsweetened mangoes and little bit of milk. That will put me right in the spot of about 145 grams of carbohydrates per day.
Than I will lie into a bad and say. I made it! I won’t lie to you. It is challenging. And it is challenging every day. But it’s wort it!
