I met a lady today in gym. I see her there about once in 2 months, usually when it gets nice and warm outside.
I said hallo, she said hi, she smiled and while she pedaled on the stationary bicycle, she said: I’m trying to get back at it. This was at 9:30 am. Obviously it’s a woman that is not in 9 to 5 grind of some demanding job. She lives walking distance from the gym and she doesn’t have young kids.
But, hey, she is really, really trying to get back at it. But she never keeps at it. And whatever reason she might have for never actually get the body she really wants, it’s quite simple: She likes and seeks comfort and she is lazy. She knows, she should do it, she obviously has time, but she doesn’t do it.
Once in a while, when things get too comfortable – in these case plenty of time, good mood and fantastic weather, people like that are always starting again. And they never last.
On the other side I know women who are unbelievably busy. They spend majority of their days at work form 8 AM to 7 PM, have 3 kids and starting 2 side-businesses, that are amazingly fit and consistent at their regular exercise.
There is nothing comfortable in their days and they manage to get even more uncomfortable in gyms, running trails, pools and treadmills. They show up, even if they don’t feel like it or if the weather is terrible.
So what’s the difference between those that keep getting back at it and those that keep at it? It’s laziness and comfort seeking.
While we all are inclined toward comfort seeking and laziness, the best, healthiest, fittest and smartest people find a way to overcome this primal instinct.
If you are not a person like that, try to become one, because comfort and laziness produces weak, fragile, unhealthy people.
